Movie Pastime: BFF: Best Friends Forever Review

The cinematic tandem of Sharon Cuneta and Ai-ai delas Alas has recently reached our apartment's living room. I haven't heard anything about their recent film together entitled BFF: Best Friends Forever during my three-week stay in the Philippines. Janne (my boyfriend) who searches for Filipino films every now and then to help seal at least a bit of my homesickness has stumbled upon the Megastar (Cuneta) and the Comedy Queen's (delas Alas) movie.

Yesterday while munching pieces of popcorn and sipping a glass of cola, Janne turned on the telly and played the DVD player and in a few seconds Chuwariwap, the movie's soundtrack was already filling my memory bank.

BFF: Best Friends Forever, released on 13 May 2009 in Philippine cinemas is written by Mel Mendoza-del Rosario and directed by Wenn V. Deramas. Aside from Sharon Cuneta and Ai-ai delas Alas, the movie also stars John Estrada, Chokoleit, Joy Viado, Nas Aguas, Gina Pareño, Empress Schuck and more.

BFF: Best Friends Forever's plot/synopsis circles around how Honey (Cuneta) is trying to keep her family in tact despite the fact that she senses that her husband, Tim (Estrada) is unfaithful to her. Being overweight, Honey decides with the help of her mother (Pareño) to enroll in a gym class where she meets Frances (delas Alas), a belly dancing instructor, a single mother to Nina (Schuck) and unfortunately, Tim's mistress. Honey and Frances become the best of friends without knowing that they are sharing the same man. Of course, on the later part of the story they both find out the truth and become the best enemies. During Tim's funeral (yes, he died in the film) Honey and Frances realize that they want to stay best friends forever. A happy ending after all!

BFF: Best Friends Forever is a film enough to make me laugh. Good one!
