Fashion Statements Of The Stars At The 70th Golden Globe Awards

When award shows are on television, most people tune in to see the fashion instead of the presentations. This year's 70th Golden Globe Awards fashion review includes numerous celebrity statements and trends in Hollywood. Even though the weather was a bit chilly, stars continued to showcase gowns at one of the biggest events of the year. Here is a look at the fashions that lined the red carpet.

Cold Brings Out The Sleeves

California is normally a warm place where skin can be shown off. However this year, the air was a cool 50 degrees.  Celebrities were forced to cover up. Women like Kate Hudson, Glenn Close, and Naomi Watts wore dresses with long sleeves.  In particular, Kate Hudson wore a sophisticated black peek-a-boo black gown with gold accents from Alexander McQueen. She was definitely one of the best dressed of the night.

Color, Color, More Color

Many celebrities donned bright colors to make a "wow" statement. Claire Danes, winner of Best Actress in a TV series, wore a Versace gown which showed off her post-baby figure. The halter style design perfectly accentuated her newly tightened waist. Jennifer Lawrence wore a rich coral Dior Haute Couture while Jessica Chastain wore a beautiful aqua creation.

Black Is Always Classic

Black is always a popular choice for dresses and gowns at fashion events. Many stylists recommend this color because it offers a great silhouette and appears to slim the figure.  This year, black was more popular than ever. Celebrities like Debra Messing chose a black Donna Karan design while Julianne Moore accepted her award in a black and white modern color block dress by Tom Ford. Helen Mirren joined the trend with a long sleeved gown by Badgley Mischka.

Flesh Tone Dressed Up

One final statement that had a strong presence at the golden Globe Awards was wearing flesh tone designs. This is one of the hardest trends to wear because there is nowhere to hide figure flaws. Some of the young starlets choose nude colored dresses. Megan Fox dazzled in her Dolce and Gabbana and newcomer Hayden Panettiere appeared stunning while totally covered in Cavalli.

Accessories Which Stole The Show

Besides the dresses, women were making a statement with handbags. Emerald green, the color for 2013, was worn alongside flesh tones and bright purple. In particular, Shaun Robinson held a bedazzled green Swarovski clutch. Pastels  also had a strong presence. Taken from the runways in Paris, pastel handbags were in full glory as well. Vintage, snakeskin, and metallics were also a popular handbag choice.

Immediately following the show, everyone anxiously awaits a 70th Golden Globe Awards fashion review. Color choice was the big statement of the evening. Certain celebrities shined in bright shades, while others played it safe in black and nude colors. Handbags were the big accessory of the night, especially in Emerald green. Most women look to the stars for glamour tips and trends. This year, the celebrities did not disappoint and offered a wide variety of fashion ideas.
